For the record

Fire protection: An article in Wednesday's Section A about preparing for a fire evacuation advised leaving lawn sprinklers on and using a garden hose to wet the roof or the area around your house. In fact, sprinklers should be turned off to preserve water for firefighters, and wetting a roof or area around your house is not effective in Santa Ana winds, fire experts say.

Eastwood films: A story in Thursday's Calendar section about Alison Eastwood's directing debut, "Rails & Ties," gave the first name of Clint Eastwood's producing partner, Rob Lorenz, as Bob. The article also said that Clint Eastwood and Lorenz won an Oscar for "Letters From Iwo Jima." They were nominated but did not win.

Design show: In the Home section's Oct. 25 column "The Scout," an item about the Young Hollywood Home exhibition at the Pacific Design Center credited an eco-friendly bedroom design to Cory Pernicano. The story should have said that the Beverly Hills consulting firm Greenlivinglifestyle produced the room and asked Pernicano to collaborate on the project.

Airborne Toxic Event: In some copies of Thursday's edition of The Guide, a caption accompanying a photo of L.A. band the Airborne Toxic Event called it Airborne Toxic Quintet.
