SOUTHLAND BLAZES

A few closures remain as fires flicker out

The blazes that swept through Southern California have forced tens of thousands of residents to evacuate, triggered numerous road closures and prompted school officials to cancel classes throughout the region. The fires also have generated numerous relief efforts, including the opening of assistance centers. Many schools plan to resume classes today. Below is a partial list of the latest available information for the region. Residents returning to burn areas are warned to take precautions and to dispose of food that spoiled because of power outages. For more updates, check www.latimes.com.

Fire victims can apply for federal, state and local assistance at the following locations:

Los Angeles County

Disaster aid

* Castaic Regional Sports Complex, 31230 N. Castaic Road, Castaic 91384

* Malibu Bluffs Park, 24250 Pacific Coast Highway, Malibu 90265

* Santa Clarita Sports Complex Activity Center, 20880 Centre Pointe Parkway, Santa Clarita 91350

The centers will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

Orange County

* One Stop Center, 125 Technology Drive West, Suite 200, Irvine 92618. The center will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

San Bernardino County

* Orange Show Fairgrounds, Dome Building, 689 South E St., San Bernardino 92408. The center will be open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. today.

San Diego County

* Rancho Bernardo-Glassman Recreation Center, 18448 West Bernardo Drive, San Diego 92127. The center will be open 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. today.

* Cuyamaca College, 900 Rancho San Diego Parkway, El Cajon 92109

The following centers will be open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. today:

* Fallbrook Community Center, 341 Heald Lane, Fallbrook 92028

* Ramona Community School, 1710 Montecito Road, Ramona 92065

* Glendora Mountain Road from Big Dalton Road to East Fork

* Vasquez Canyon Road from 1,000 feet east of Bouquet Canyon Road to Sierra Highway

* Vasquez Canyon Road from Bouquet Canyon Road to 1,000 feet east of Bouquet Canyon Road

Orange County

Road closures:

* All of Live Oak Canyon Road

* Northbound Plano Trabuco Road north of Robinson Ranch Road

* Santiago Canyon Road south of the 241 toll road to Live Oak Canyon Road

* All of Trabuco Canyon Road

Mandatory evacuations:

* Canyon areas off Santiago Canyon Road between Silverado Canyon Road and Live Oak Canyon Road, including the Santiago Estates area and Jackson Ranch Road

* Areas along Live Oak Canyon Road through the Trabuco Canyon area, including O'Neill Regional Park to Trabuco Creek Road

Evacuation center:

* El Modena High School, 3920 Spring St., Orange

Schools information:

* The following school districts or colleges plan to resume classes today: Irvine Unified School District, Capistrano Unified School District, Santiago Canyon College and South Orange County Community College District

* The Saddleback Valley Unified School District will reopen to staff today and to students Tuesday.

* Silverado Elementary will remain closed today.

San Bernardino County

Most but not all San Bernardino Mountain communities affected by the wildfires reopened to residents Sunday. Mandatory evacuation orders were lifted for most of Lake Arrowhead and the communities of Twin Peaks, Rim Forest, Blue Jay, Agua Fria, Deer Lodge Park, Sky Forest and Cedar Glen. Reentry passes will not be required. However, a mandatory evacuation order remains in effect for areas of Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, Arrow Bear and Green Valley Lake that suffered extensive damage.

Road closures:

* California 330 from Highland to Running Springs

* California 18 from Kuffel Canyon to Big Bear Dam

* Some local roads in fire-damaged areas of Lake Arrowhead, Running Springs, Arrow Bear and Green Valley Lake are closed to traffic.

* California 18 and 138 have reopened where mandatory evacuation orders have been lifted.

* National Orange Show Fairgrounds, 689 South E St., San Bernardino

* Victorville Fairgrounds, 14800 7th St., Victorville

Schools information:

* Rim of the World Unified School District will remain closed through Nov. 2.

* San Bernardino City Unified School District, Yucaipa-Calimesa Joint Unified School District, San Bernardino Valley College and Cal State San Bernardino plan to resume classes today.
