Bo Diddley recovering from heart attack

Primal rock and blues musician Bo Diddley has been released from the hospital and is now resting at home, his publicist said today. Diddley had been admitted to the North Florida Regional Medical Center in Gainesville, Fla., on Aug. 24 after suffering a heart attack during a routine medical exam. He was discharged Saturday.

A Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee who helped cast the sonic template of rock half a century ago with the syncopated beat that became synonymous with his name, Diddley has long battled hypertension and diabetes, among other health problems. He was hospitalized for 11 days after suffering a stroke onstage in Iowa in May.

In June, in an outward display of his determination to regain his health and return to his life on the road, Diddley's scheduled British tour was "postponed" rather than canceled.

"With his health greatly improved, Diddley is happy to be home with his family and away from the hospital food," his publicist Susan Clary said in a statement.
