2 NATO soldiers die in blasts

September 07, 2007|From Times Wire Reports

Bomb blasts killed two NATO soldiers and wounded several others in southern Afghanistan. The North Atlantic Treaty Organization said there were two separate attacks but gave no details and did not identify the casualties by nationality.

Government and allied forces have reported killing about 200 Taliban fighters in central and southern Afghanistan in recent weeks. The Taliban has acknowledged some losses, but said many of the dead were civilians, a charge officials deny.

Militants have also launched scores of attacks that have killed several dozen local and foreign soldiers, as well as civilians.
