‘American Idol’ just can’t win
Note This article includes corrections to the original version.
MAYBE Paula Abdul should start bungee jumping or eating worms.
“American Idol” may have the huge audience, but it has never won an Emmy, despite its five consecutive nominations for outstanding reality series.
It lost again Sunday on their show’s home network, seeing the award go for the fifth consecutive time to its nemesis, “The Amazing Race.”
The travelogue series has zero water-cooler cred compared to “Idol” or fellow nominees “Dancing With the Stars,” “Project Runway” and “Top Chef.” But “The Amazing Race” can’t be beat at Emmy time, winning each year since the category was established.
And it’s not even on the fall schedule.
Maybe Fox should think about sending Ryan Seacrest to host “Idol” from remote locations if it ever hopes to finish in front of “The Amazing Race” on Emmy night.
