Rose Bird: An article in Section A on Aug. 19 about California Atty. Gen. Jerry Brown, and previous articles in the Times, have described former California Chief Justice Rose Bird as having been recalled from office. Bird was the target of unsuccessful efforts to hold a special election to recall her. However, she lost her seat in a scheduled November 1986 election in which voters were asked whether she should receive another term on the court.

Cable cars: An article in the Travel section on Sunday listing contact numbers and information for San Francisco included an incorrect website for San Francisco Cable Cars. The website is www.sfcablecar.com.

Petraeus ad: The Cause Celebre column in Friday's Calendar section about controversy following an ad by MoveOn.org attacking Army Gen. David H. Petraeus said the group also generated controversy in 2004 when it released an ad comparing President Bush to Adolf Hitler. The 2004 incident involved a submission by an individual after MoveOn invited parties to post short videos on the website. Amid intense criticism, the group removed the submission and apologized.

'The Terror Presidency': In a review of the book "The Terror Presidency" by Jack Goldsmith that appeared in the Sept. 19 Calendar section, the following sentence contained a misquote: "As Goldsmith writes, he came to believe those opinions rested on legal foundations 'sloppily reasoned, overboard, and incautious in asserting extraordinary constitutional authorities on behalf of the president.' " The quote from Goldsmith should have said "overbroad," not "overboard."

Morning Briefing: In Monday's Sports section, Morning Briefing quoted Andrew Siciliano, host of DirecTV's Sunday Ticket "Red Zone" channel, as saying of the Philadelphia Eagles, who wore gold and powder blue uniforms and were leading the Lions, 35-7, in the second quarter: "They look like UCLA, but they're playing USC." The end of that quote should have read, "but they're playing like USC."

All Saints: A caption with Monday's Section A photograph and article about All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena said the Rev. J. Edwin Bacon Jr. was embracing a parishioner. That man was the church's former rector, the Rev. George F. Regas.
