Miss Sixty courts its demo
Anne Hathaway, Chloë Sevigny, Ashley Olsen and Milla Jovovich take the front row for a ’60s-style showcase.
Four front-row seats at Miss Sixty’s Sunday-night show were penned off with nightclub-style stanchions. It might as well have been a velvet rope, as photographers and video crews bellied up to the barricade in anticipation of the celebrity arrivals.
And they were right to expect A-list, because last season the contemporary Italian brand attracted the unlikeliness of Demi Moore, Ashton Kutcher and an especially out-of-place Clive Owen. But maybe this time around the company is sending its dollars in a better direction, because the front-row dolls at this season’s show might actually wear Miss Sixty.
Anne Hathaway, Chloë Sevigny, Ashley Olsen and Milla Jovovich entered the pen, sparking a 20-minute frenzy of flashing bulbs. Hathaway and Jovovich were clad in last fall’s Miss Sixty, though you couldn’t really tell, because Jovovich kept her tan overcoat on the whole time. The quartet took in the ’60s-style show, complete with a VW bus backdrop and a Janis Joplin-inspired collection dripping with fringe and faux fur that looked more fitting for Olsen’s twin Mary Kate (who had been confirmed to attend the show, but dropped out of all her Fashion Week commitments after the death of Heath Ledger).
At the after-show dinner, 70 guests packed into Socialista, a Cuban-themed bar and restaurant in the West Village. Hathaway made her grand entrance, exclaiming, “Giants won, Giants won!” She was probably one of the few among the crowd of fashion editors and stylists keeping tabs on the Super Bowl score. Jovovich was the only other celebrity who joined Hathaway in making a quick cameo. Olsen and Sevigny may have been prepping for their events this week – Sevigny a party for her collection at Opening Ceremony and Olsen for the presentation of her line, The Row. Or maybe it just wasn’t in their contract to attend.
