Prime choices for prime time

SUNDAY

We’re as stumped as you are about why Miley Cyrus is presenting an Oscar this year. But she’ll be bringing in those desired young demos when she sits for the annual “The Barbara Walters Oscar Special” too. Also appearing are “Juno” star and nominee Ellen Page, Harrison Ford and Vanessa Williams.

(ABC, approximately 8:30 p.m.)

MONDAY

Dan Cortese lives?! The former MTV staple and “Melrose Place” alum hosts the family-friendly competition “My Dad Is Better Than Your Dad.” Father-spawn pairs stand to win college money and all-important bragging rights.

(NBC, 9 p.m.)

TUESDAY

The series “quarterlife,” from the team behind “thirtysomething” and the coming-of-age cult hit “My So-Called Life,” follows a group of creative types in their 20s as they attempt to find their way. The series was hatched online in November.

(NBC, 10 p.m.)

WEDNESDAY

Returning in a new time slot, “Men in Trees” picks up with Jack still away at sea. Cue the unexpected return of Cash, with a big surprise for Marin. The show’s got at least 11 episodes to go, then it may be time to strike up a Save Our Show campaign aimed at ABC.

(ABC, 10 p.m.)

THURSDAY

It might be a good time to get reacquainted with “Survivor.” This “Fans vs. Favorites” sets rookies against such faves as Ami Cusack and Cirie Fields. The collective group has already shown it’s a smart one, eliminating Jonny Fairplay during the first episode.

(CBS, 8 p.m.)

FRIDAY

Ian Ziering hosts Lifetime’s competition “Your Mama Don’t Dance,” which pairs amateur dancers with their parents. We’re starting to sense a parental pattern here.

(Lifetime, 9 p.m.)

SATURDAY

“George Carlin: It’s Bad for Ya” will be live and uncensored. Strike up the seven words!

(HBO, 10 p.m.)
