A.L. RESULTS

Yankees beat A’s on a bases-loaded hit batsman in 12th

* at New York 4, Oakland 3 (12 innings): Jose Molina was hit by Lenny DiNardo’s pitch with the bases loaded in the 12th. The last time the Yankees won on a game-ending hit by pitch was July 15, 1965, when Clete Boyer was hit against the Washington Senators. “That’s the way it goes sometimes. It was crazy,” Molina said.

* at Tampa Bay 6, Toronto 4: Evan Longoria hit his first grand slam during a five-run sixth inning. Longoria had struggled recently, going three for 23 with no RBIs in his previous seven games. He broke out of the skid in a big way with the bases-clearing drive against Blue Jays ace Roy Halladay to give the Rays a 5-0 lead.

* Cleveland 9, at Seattle 6: The Indians ended a road losing streak at 10 games. Their last road win came on June 21 against the Dodgers. The 10-game skid was Cleveland’s longest on the road since 1991, when the Indians dropped 12 in a row.

* Kansas City 9, at Chicago 1: Gil Meche and three relievers combined on a two-hitter. Meche shut down the Central Division leaders, yielding both hits and a run in 6 1/3 strong innings.

* at Minnesota 14, Texas 2: Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau homered and drove in eight runs between them. Morneau had a two-run homer and a three-run double. Mauer hit a two-run double and a solo homer.

* at Baltimore 11, Detroit 10 (10 innings): Luke Scott homered in the bottom of the 10th for the Orioles, who rallied from a six-run deficit

* at Angels 4, Boston 2: Pinch-hitter Erick Aybar hit a bases-clearing triple to highlight a four-run seventh. Angels pinch-hitters were only six for 38 with five RBIs before Aybar’s hit.
