Michael Cappabianca’s ‘Exurbia’ in Chinatown
DO THESE PHOTOS FEEL LIKE HOME?
Composed of 24 photographs, “Exurbia” charts landscape photographer Michael Cappabianca‘sfascination with communities in insulated, formerly natural surroundings. His photos of empty houses and compromised pastorals (pictured: “Between 10 and 11”) can take on an abstract quality, but never lack for meaning, he says. “You take an unfinished home, take all the furniture and décor and everything out, and still it ends up pointing to a social status.” Ends May 17.
