Bob Harper
Even with his shape-up book “Are You Ready!” out Tuesday, his “Biggest Loser Australia” gig recently wrapped and the fifth-season finale of the NBC hit series coming up April 15, the no-pain, no-gain guru, 42, still has energy to burn. For the Nashville native, who’s lived in West Hollywood for 17 years, putting together a perfect weekend is no sweat.
SUP AND SLEEP Friday night I’d do dinner with friends at Hatfield’s on Beverly. It’s small and understated, with a great vibe. I love their fish, and the decadent chocolate desserts. VELVET ROPE VIBE Saturday at 10 a.m. I teach a Spinning class at Crunch on Sunset. It’s crazy, like Studio 54 in the ’70s: People start lining up around 8, so there’s a doorman to see if you’re on the list! The energy is intoxicating – almost like being in a club. BUY DESIGN I’m a furniture junkie and spend a lot of Saturdays shopping. Gerard O’Brien at Reform Gallery on La Cienega has mid-century furniture I really like. And we discuss when it was made, who owned it, what inspired it – I always want to learn more. Then, to feed my exercise addiction, I get in another workout at Barry’s Bootcamp. OPEN HOUSE Saturday night I love having people over. I serve cocktails and hors d’oeuvres and really good wine from Froma, a hidden-away little jewel on Melrose with a fantastic selection of wine and cheese. The Frenchwoman who owns it guides you through and tells you the origin of all the salami, pancetta and pâtés. CARDIO, CAFFEINE, COCO Sunday I’m back on the wagon after all the cheese. In the morning I work out with my own trainer – after being in charge of other people, I like having someone I trust take the driver’s seat. Then I have two cappuccinos and read the paper at my favorite coffee shop, Caffé Luxxe in Santa Monica. The highlight of the weekend is Sunday afternoon with my goddaughter, Coco, at Coldwater Canyon Park. She’s 3 and unbelievable. I take my camera and discover L.A. all over again being with her. And that’s it – kids are exhausting!
