Looking back: ‘All About Bette Davis’ mini-festival
LOOKING BACK: BETTE DAVIS EYES
What ever happened to Bette Davis? The late Oscar-winning actress was anything but ordinary, which is why she still matters as we reach her 100th birthday on Saturday. “She had incredibly tenacity and drive,” says film historian Rudy Behlmer. “She had a lot of common sense.” The Aero Theatre is celebrating with “All About Bette Davis,” a mini-festival beginning tonight with 1938’s “Jezebel,” for which she won her second Oscar, and the delicious 1940 melodrama “The Letter.” Other films in the tribute include “Now, Voyager,” “All About Eve” and “What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?,” pictured. 7:30 tonight-Sun., Aero Theatre, Santa Monica; $10; (323) 466-FILM, aerotheatre.com
