Herb Alpert at REDCAT
ALPERT, UP CLOSE
Herb Alpert’s trumpet playing has been a lot less prominent lately than his philanthropic activities. But the veteran Tijuana Brass hit maker still has plenty of music in his soul, and in his horn. So it’s good to have him back, even for a short stand – especially since he’ll be accompanied by his wife, singer Lani Hall, whose lovely, Latin Grammy-winning vocals have been heard too rarely in recent years. 8:30 p.m. today-Fri., REDCAT. $18-35. (213) 237-2800; redcat.org/season/0708/mus/alpert.php
