Haydn: Mass appeal
MASS APPEAL
When he was 8, Haydn joined the Vienna Choir Boys, though he was thrown out when his voice changed at 17. Still, he never lost his love for the human voice, and his last six Masses – of which Grant Gershon and the Los Angeles Master Chorale are devoting two years to survey – find him at the peak of his powers. The “Maria Theresa” Mass is up next on a program that also includes Górecki’s comforting “Five Marian Songs.” 7 p.m. Sun., Walt Disney Concert Hall. $19-$114. (800) 787-5262; www.lamc.org
