Two men are barricaded in Glassell Park home

Los Angeles police officers have surrounded a Glassell Park home this morning where two men are believed to be barricaded inside with numerous weapons.

The incident began shortly after 7 a.m. when officers tried to serve a warrant on a 46-year-old man believed to be living in the 3600 block of Roderick Road.

The man, sought by authorities investigating the alleged sale of illegal weapons, remains in the house along with the homeowner, another man, police said.

"The suspect is believed to be armed with multiple weapons," said LAPD Deputy Chief Sergio Diaz, who said the second man in the home appears to be there willingly. "Our detectives have heard movement inside, and they do not believe there is a hostage inside."

Two women who came out of the home earlier were being questioned by investigators, Diaz said.

Members of the LAPD SWAT unit arrived at the scene about 9 a.m. and were moving into positions near the home.

Police evacuated nearby residences about 8:15 a.m. and neighbors, some with small children, stood in yards and on the street watching the standoff.

The home is just a few blocks from the site of a wild shootout last month between Avenues gang members and police that left one gang member dead and the neighborhood shut down for hours as police sought other suspects.
