Phillies prevent Mets’ sweep
Utley homers twice and Feliz hits a tie-breaking pinch-hit homer in a 5-4 victory over the Mets.
* at Philadelphia 5, New York 4: Chase Utley hit two home runs and Pedro Feliz added a tiebreaking pinch-hit homer in the seventh to help the Phillies avoid a sweep. Utley went three for three with four runs batted in.
* at Chicago 13, Pittsburgh 6: Aramis Ramirez tied a career high with four hits, including a two-run homer, and the Cubs completed their second three-game sweep of the Pirates this season. Ryan Theriot also had four hits.
* at Florida 6, Washington 1: Scott Olsen (3-0) gave up three hits in seven innings and Hanley Ramirez hit two home runs for the Marlins. Washington’s Odalis Perez stayed winless despite yielding one unearned run.
* at Cincinnati 4, Milwaukee 3 (10): Edwin Encarnacion and Paul Bako hit consecutive homers off Eric Gagne in the 10th inning, and Ken Griffey Jr. followed with a run-scoring single for the Reds’ second win in nine games.
* at Houston 6, Colorado 4: Kaz Matsui hit a two-run single in the eighth inning against his former team, helping the Astros end a three-game losing streak.
* San Francisco 8, at St. Louis 2: Bengie Molina hit three doubles and drove in three runs to help the Giants win the season series, 4-3.
* at San Diego 9, Arizona 4: Randy Johnson stayed 16 wins shy of 300 in his second start since back surgery.
* at Atlanta 6, Dodgers 1: The Braves swept the Dodgers for the first time since April 2000.
