* Update: After Kuo gave up one run and two hits in a four-inning start exactly one week ago, Manager Joe Torre elected to keep him as the fifth starter. Kuo got some work in Friday, pitching two-thirds of an inning in relief in Atlanta. Volquez, who was the minor league pitcher of the year in the Texas Rangers’ organization last season, was acquired by the Reds along with left-hander Danny Herrera last winter in a trade for Josh Hamilton.
