* Update: Garland is in his first season with the Angels, but like his new teammates, the former White Sox right-hander has struggled against the Red Sox, going 0-2 with an 8.49 ERA against them last season and 3-5 with a 5.53 ERA lifetime. Matsuzaka, who leads the American League with 28 strikeouts, is tied for second with 17 walks and third with a .182 opponents batting average, has never faced the Angels in the regular season. He did start Game 2 of the division series against the Angels last October, giving up three runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.
