August 09, 2008|From Times Wire Services

Watson Pharmaceuticals Inc. said it was recalling one lot of patches containing the painkiller fentanyl, used to manage chronic pain.

A "small number" of Fentanyl Transdermal System patches sold from Jan. 30 to March 19 leaked fentanyl gel, Watson said in a statement. Exposure to the gel may lead to fatal overdoses, though no injuries have been reported, the Corona company said.
