at Houston 4, Cincinnati 1: Roy Oswalt limited the Reds to five hits in seven innings and Hunter Pence and Ty Wigginton hit two-run homers to help Oswalt beat the Reds for the 22nd time in 23 decisions.

Florida 4, at Atlanta 1: Josh Johnson threw a four-hitter for the first complete game of his career, and Dan Uggla hit his 28th homer for the Marlins.

at San Francisco 4, Colorado 1: Bengie Molina and Pablo Sandoval hit consecutive home runs in the seventh inning and the Giants avoided a three-game sweep. Tim Lincecum (15-3) struck out 10 to boost his majors-leading strikeout total to 210 and he now has the 10th-highest season strikeout total in San Francisco history.

at St. Louis 5, Milwaukee 3: Ryan Ludwick lacked a triple for the cycle and had two RBIs to lead the Cardinals' comeback from a three-run deficit.

Chicago 2, at Pittsburgh 0: Jason Marquis shut down the Pirates, and the Cubs lead the NL Central by six games after sweeping the three-game series.

at San Diego 5, Arizona 4: Jody Gerut singled in the go-ahead run in the eighth inning.

at Washington 5, Dodgers 4: The Dodgers lost their sixth consecutive game.
