Alone

Being alone in a forest, walking deeper in. But it is not about being afraid. Being brave is something to prove. Bears and tigers all about, building a hut near a tree. Rain drips all over me. Army of ants jump on trees. Going home so cheerfully. I’m just so happy.

A goddess in a white gown blows the blue sky away. She holds a golden paintbrush in her delicate blue hands and strokes the sky.
A Sea of Light and Darkness
By Kevin, 10

In a kaleidoscope of light and color, fish flash in a shimmering, sunlit reef, dancing in a rippling wave of light in the soft blue sea. Wind ripples water as stones quiver on a cool sand carpet. A grumpy grouper glides over his coral city, ready to order breakfast at Bubba Gump’s Shrimp Palace. After filling his belly, he waddles toward the fish wash where a mob of yellow tangs speed to clean off his back, nibbling to earn a free breakfast. I am the silent watcher in this scene, floating like a chunk of driftwood – a part of the reef. I surface. Sunlight and a salty spray sloshes over me. And as the clock in the sky ticks, the moon climbs up a ladder of stars. The sky is dark. The water is dark. But the vivid form of a silver moon is still reflected in the sleeping sea.
