THE SCOUT / FINDS

You can polish these gems yourself

Most 20th century design dealers on La Cienega Boulevard are known for high-gloss refinishing and high-glam reupholstery. At Euro Chic West, a more do-it-yourself spirit prevails. The enormous showroom offers great deals on designer items that may require a little TLC: A set of three Audoux-Minet rattan chairs with adjustable backs and matching footstools, for instance, is priced at $2,200, and four 1940s Jens Risom chairs for Knoll International with faded original plastic webbing, shown here, are $1,900. On the pricier end, a 1950s Gio Ponti bar designed for the stateroom of the Italian Line cruiser Giulio Cesare costs $12,500. Euro Chic West, 703 N. La Cienega Blvd. (310) 855-0111.
