Avalanche kills ski resort employee
An avalanche killed a 27-year-old man while he was skiing outside the boundaries of a ski resort.
Jesse Brigham, a Vail Resorts employee, was skiing with two companions when the avalanche hit.
The others pulled Brigham from the snow, but attempts to revive him failed, Eagle County sheriff's spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly said.
UTAHBody is found at renovated Capitol
A construction worker was found dead in a crawl space hours after reporting to work at the Capitol in Salt Lake City, where government officials were holding a ceremony to mark the building's recent renovation.
The body of John David Welsh, 30, was found in a confined space where heating ducts and pipes run, said Trooper Cameron Roden, a Utah Highway Patrol spokesman.
Foul play was not suspected, but "we'll look into every aspect," Roden said.
HAWAIISuperferry delays Kauai route
The operator of the state's new inter-island ferry, which got the green light to resume trips despite environmental protests that it harms the islands' ecosystems, said the company was delaying service on one route.
It won't immediately resume service between Honolulu and Kauai but will instead start a second voyage between Honolulu and Maui starting Jan. 16, said Hawaii Superferry President John Garibaldi.
