Re "A dynasty isn't a democracy," Opinion, Jan. 3
I'm glad someone else noticed this contradiction about democracy in Pakistan. The U.S. wants to promote democracy, so it picks a leader who engaged in money laundering and whose political party leadership is inherited by her family. I thought that in a democracy, the people, not outside countries, were supposed to pick their own leader, and the goal is to get rid of royalty and inherited titles. Thank you, Rosa Brooks, for questioning the political dynasties in our country, as well.
