Crash on 405 in O.C. leaves 1 dead. 1 injured
A vehicle overturned on the south San Diego Freeway this morning in Irvine, killing one person and injuring at least one other. The crash shut down all southbound lanes for an hour.
Witnesses reported seeing a Jeep Cherokee overturn about 4:33 a.m. just south of Culver Drive, said California Highway Patrol Officer Denise Quesada. One person was thrown from the Jeep, she said. The injured person was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana.
The name of the person who died was not released because authorities had not yet notified relatives, Quesada said.
By shortly after 7 a.m., all southbound lanes had reopened to traffic, authorities said.
