Nope, not ‘Platoon’
NOPE, NOT ‘PLATOON’
“Casualties of War” is the other ’80s Vietnam War movie, featuring impossibly baby-faced Sean Penn, left, Michael J. Fox, center, and John C. Reilly. Never one to take the easy road, director Brian De Palma delivers a disturbing epic investigating the effects of violence when four American soldiers rape and murder a Vietnamese woman. In conjunction with the 22nd annual American Society of Cinematographers Awards, Lifetime Achievement Award winner Stephen H. Burum will be present to discuss his subtle camera work. 7:30 p.m. Sat., Hammer Museum. $9. www.cinema.ucla.edu
