Stars come out in Ojai
STARS COME OUT IN OJAI
A gala made up of scenes from new works as well as recognized classics, the Ojai Playwrights Conference‘sannual winter extravaganza features winners of Oscar (Sally Field) and Emmy (Allison Janney), as well as multiple nominees (Neil Patrick Harris, pictured, Jane Kaczmarek), and many, many others, like Mary McCormack and Noah Wyle. This year’s theme revolves around peering “behind the curtain,” according to artistic director Robert Egan. That means riffing off a showbiz premise, but also “looking beyond the literal curtain of the stage into people’s intimate lives and loves,” he says. 5 p.m. Sat., Matilija Junior High School Auditorium, 703 El Paseo Road, Ojai. $65-$225.
