Brooks: A smokin’ dinner
SMOKER HEAVEN
It’s the ultimate manly fantasy: sucking on cigars while supping on game. The two can be done simultaneously and without guilt (or nagging) at Brooks on Wednesday. For one old-school night, chef Andy Brooks will pair a three-course dinner with three cigars and two wines. Brooks (above right, with Chris Nordella) is, naturally, a cigar connoisseur who spent hours smoking and planning. A preview: “The authentic Corojo cigar has very earthy flavors and I tasted a lot of cumin in it,” he says, “so I pair it with grilled quail and a wild mushroom risotto with a toasted cumin-seed Gouda.” 545 E. Thompson Blvd., Ventura, (805) 652-7070
