Car bomb in Mosul kills Iraqi
BAGHDAD -- A suicide bomber detonated his car on an American convoy in Mosul today, killing one Iraqi and injuring 15 others, Iraqi police and U.S. military officials said.
The incident is the latest in a wave of high-profile attacks in the northern city, the last urban stronghold for Al Qaeda in Iraq.
The bombing came one day after five U.S. soldiers were killed in a roadside attack in the city and less than a week after a booby-trapped apartment building exploded, killing as many as 60 people.
In Muqdadiya, police found nine corpses and 10 heads in the countryside. The male bodies had all been blindfolded, handcuffed and shot in the head.
Some of them had been dead for while, said Ahmed Fuad, manager of the public morgue in the nearby city of Baqubah.
The 10 heads were also found blindfolded, he said.
