Lakers make offers to Sasha Vujacic, Ronny Turiaf
LAKERS
Team hopes to re-sign the restricted free agents fresh off the best seasons of their careers.
The Lakers today made qualifying offers to their two key restricted free agents, guard Sasha Vujacic and forward-center Ronny Turiaf.
Lakers General Manager Mitch Kupchak has said that he hopes to re-sign the two players, who will officially become free agents tonight at 9 p.m.
Because both players are restricted free agents the Lakers have the right to match any offers by another team.
Vujacic, 24, from Slovenia, has been with the team four years and had his best season in 2007-08, averaging 8.8 points in 72 regular season games and shooting 45.4% from the field and 43.7% from the three-point line -- all career bests.
Turiaf, 25, finished his third season with the Lakers, averaged 6.6 points and 3.9 rebounds, also career bests.
