at New York 5, Toronto 1: Mike Mussina (9-4) tied for the AL lead in wins and Derek Jeter passed Mickey Mantle on the Yankees' hits list. Jeter's single gave him 2,416 hits, good for third in franchise history behind Babe Ruth (2,518) and Lou Gehrig (2,721). Mussina tied the Angels' Joe Saunders for the league lead in victories.

at Chicago 6, Kansas City 4 (15): Paul Konerko, batting .198 beforehand, hit a two-run homer in the 15th inning to lift the White Sox. Octavio Dotel (3-2) pitched 2 2/3 innings of hitless relief for Chicago. Each team used seven pitchers in the 4-hour 23-minute game. Joe Crede and Jim Thome homered for the White Sox.

Cleveland 15, at Texas 9: Ryan Garko drove in a career-high six runs and David Dellucci hit a three-run homer. Texas' Elizardo Ramirez entered a game tied 6-6, then was knocked around for eight runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings after being called up from triple-A Oklahoma.

at Minnesota 7, Baltimore 5: Joe Mauer homered and drove in three runs, helping Boof Bonser get a win out of the bullpen (3-6). Bonser, in his first appearance since being pushed to the bullpen, threw 2 2/3 scoreless innings. Joe Nathan earned his 16th save in 17 chances.

at Oakland 10, Detroit 2: Justin Duchscherer allowed three hits over 6 2/3 innings to overcome a season-high five walks to help the A's complete a three-game sweep. He was also hit just above his left wrist by Carlos Guillen's line drive in the sixth inning but stayed in the game.

at Boston 5, Tampa Bay 1: The Red Sox won their 12th in a row at home to improve their major-league best home record to 23-5.

Angels 5, at Seattle 4: The Mariners fell 18 games under .500 and 15 1/2 games out of first place while getting swept in three games by the Angels.
