Celtics' Kevin Garnett expects to kick it up a notch

NBA FINALS

The energetic star says he expects the adrenaline to flow in Thursday's Game 1 against the Lakers. Paul Pierce is happy about the move that wasn't made.

BOSTON — Kevin Garnett says now is the time to let it all hang out.

He has commercials in which he tugs his Celtics jersey, screams in emotion, pounds his chest. What's going on in that mind? Celtics Coach Doc Rivers readily acknowledges that he's not really sure he wants to know.

And now, with Thursday's Game 1 of the NBA Finals between the Celtics and Lakers, Garnett is ready to take it up even another notch.

"I'm just going to let it flow, try to center myself as best I can but, at the same time, let the adrenaline, let it run and try not to get too tired too soon," Garnett said.

During last summer's off-season, Paul Pierce and Kobe Bryant were playing pickup games, going back and forth about who would get traded first from his respective team.

Oh, how things change.

"I remember us saying neither one of us thought we'd be back with our team," Pierce said. "I remember I was just betting who would get to another team first, because he felt strongly about moving on with the Lakers and I felt the same way with Boston, so it's kind of ironic that we're in this position on the same teams playing each other for a championship."
