St. Louis 4-9, at Washington 1-10 (second game, 10 innings): Todd Wellemeyer won his fifth decision in a row, Troy Glaus hit a two-run homer and Albert Pujols the first pinch-hit homer of his career to lead the Cardinals in the opener of a day-night doubleheader. In the second game, Elijah Dukes' two-run, 10th-inning home run gave the Nationals a win. Wellemeyer (7-1), who hasn't lost in seven starts since April 28, gave up five hits in six innings. He struck out five, walked one and hit a batter with a pitch.

at Pittsburgh 4, Houston 3: Paul Maholm (4-5) pitched eight strong innings and Jason Michaels hit a three-run homer. Jason Bay had a run-scoring triple to break a 3-3 tie in the fifth. The Astros have lost seven of eight.

at Philadelphia 5, Cincinnati 0: Cole Hamels pitched a three-hitter for his second career shutout and the Phillies took advantage of two dropped balls to beat the Reds. Ken Griffey Jr. remained one shy of 600 home runs, going one for four in his first start in four games.

at Atlanta 7, Florida 5: Jair Jurrjens (6-3) gave up a season-high 11 hits and five runs in six innings but won as the Braves rallied from a 5-3 deficit. Jurrjens escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fifth when Ricky Nolasco hit into a double play.

at San Diego 2, New York 1: Scott Schoeneweis hit Paul McAnulty with a pitch to drive in the winning run with the bases loaded in the ninth inning. The Mets lost for only the third time in 10 games.

Chicago 5, at Dodgers 4: Kosuke Fukudome drove in the winning run with a one-out single in the ninth inning.
