TV This Week: Prime choices for prime time
SUNDAY
Michelle Trachtenberg stars as teenage stock-car racer Kylie Shines in the original movie "The Circuit." Her biggest competition? Kid Walker (Drew Fuller), who makes his advances on and off the track. Sounds better than "Herbie Fully Loaded" already. (ABC Family,
8 and 10 p.m.)
MONDAY
Country music fan or not, "Nashville Star" is like the less cheesy version of TV's other singing competition. There's nary a Sanjaya in sight, and all of the hopefuls have experience writing and playing their own music. Thankfully, none of it sounds like "A Moment Like This" (NBC, 9 p.m.).
Also, the first-season finale of "Greek." (ABC Family, 8 p.m.)
TUESDAY
Mimi's gone, Brianna's in and longer-haired Jackie Warner (above) has been so much more entertaining on this season of "Work Out." Catch the last of it and take comfort in "Flipping Out," which premieres soon to placate fans of reality TV's control freaks.
(Bravo, 10 p.m.)
WEDNESDAY
Are there any other stunts left to exhaust if you're a celebrity on the wane looking for some prime-time love? Apparently there are. NBC's "Celebrity Circus" will see Antonio Sabato Jr., Blu Cantrell, Christopher Knight, Janet Evans, Jason "Wee Man" Acuna, Rachel Hunter and Stacey Dash attempt "death-defying" stunts in a head-to-head competition. That sound you hear? That's summer TV swinging into high-gear.
(NBC, 9:30 p.m.)
THURSDAY
Make it a Kathy Griffin night. The comedian kicks off a fourth season of "Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List" and keeps things going right after as host of the first-ever "Bravo's A-List Awards," which will honor the best in pop culture. Watch for the drama king race, which we think is a tossup between Spencer Pratt of "The Hills" and Christian Siriano of "Project Runway" (Bravo, 9 and 10 p.m.).
Also, the second-season premiere of "My Boys." (TBS, 9:30 p.m.)
FRIDAY
The end is here -- for now. Sci Fi Channel has graciously saved the final 10 episodes of "Battlestar Galactica" for later this year. Or next. Either way, no one's in a rush to blow away the Cylons.
(Sci Fi Channel, 10 p.m.)
SATURDAY
Dana Carvey has resurfaced in the HBO stand-up special "Dana Carvey: Squatting Monkeys Tell No Tales." The comic known for his bespectacled "Wayne's World" character, Garth, puts on his best Dubya and McCain and suddenly all is forgiven for "The Master of
Disguise."
(HBO,
10 p.m.)
