HBO backing Will Ferrell site

HBO is investing in comedian Will Ferrell's "Funny or Die" website and commissioning 10 half-hour television shows.

Started more than a year ago, the site gets about 3.2 million unique visitors a month and counts Judd Apatow, director of "Knocked Up," among its partners, HBO said.

HBO, a unit of Time Warner Inc., did not disclose the size of its investment.
