Tight squeeze

June 14, 2008

THANKS FOR the fine article on Disney Hall ["Disney Hall Is in Need of Some TLC," by Mark Swed, June 6] -- its history, the achievements of its residents, its aesthetic and acoustic appeal.

But you omitted one of its great drawbacks: the discomfort that many patrons, especially tall ones like my husband and I, experience sitting in the too tight, too narrow seats. Just one row, the last one in the main orchestra, is comfortable, and that's because it accommodates wheelchairs, thereby leaving enough legroom between it and the row in front. And it is almost impossible to get tickets for that row. I have heard the same complaints from many others.
