Ego trip: "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" (9, 9:30 and 10 p.m. A&E) returns with three new episodes that feature Gene, the guest of honor at a charity roast.

Moon race: "When We Left Earth: The NASA Missions" (9 and 11 p.m. Discovery) documents the aftermath of the Apollo 1 tragedy through the successful landing by Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin.

Second chance: On the new series "Rate My Space" (10 p.m. HGTV), homeowners whose pictures of rooms they've designed were criticized on the HGTV website get help from designer Angelo Surmelis in turning their low-rated rooms into five-star winners.

Tortured past: "Surviving History" (10 p.m. History) recalls the macabre world of the Middle Ages including torture devices and early weapons using gunpowder with fire arrows.

On Broadway: Whoopi Goldberg hosts "The 62nd Annual Tony Awards" (8 p.m. CBS). Patrick Stewart is nominated for "Macbeth."

Classics: "TV Land Awards '08" (9 p.m. TV Land) celebrates classic television including tributes to "Roseanne" and "The Golden Girls" and special honors for Mike Myers, Jonathan Winters and Garry Marshall. Vanessa Williams hosts.
