Small fire in L.A. Toy District knocked down
The flames were contained to one room, a Fire Department official says.
A small fire broke out this morning in a storage building in the Toy District in downtown Los Angeles.
The accidental fire was started at 8 a.m. by sparks from a worker's rotary saw, said Capt. Ron Lem of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Flames were contained to one room, about 100 square feet, on the first floor, Lem said. Firefighters had difficulty entering the building because of the storage material inside, but knocked down the fire by 8:40 a.m., he said.
Few people in the building were evacuated, Lem said.
