Police are investigating the death of a 21-year-old woman whose body was found inside her Santa Monica home Sunday.

Juliana Redding, a 21-year-old woman from Arizona, was found dead at about 6:10 p.m. by officers from the Santa Monica Police Department.

According to police spokesman Lt. Alex Padilla, officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of Centinela Avenue on Sunday after Redding's mother called from Tucson, Ariz., and told them she had been unable to reach her daughter by phone. Upon arrival, officers found Redding dead inside her apartment. Police did not know how long she had been dead, but it appeared she had been killed from an "assault," Padilla said Monday.
