Warriors gain on the Mavericks
Golden State’s 111-96 victory over Portland leaves them only half a game behind seventh-place Dallas in the Western Conference.
* at Golden State 111, Portland 95: Stephen Jackson scored 24 points to help the Warriors keep a half a game lead over Denver for the final Western Conference playoff spot and move a half a game behind Dallas for seventh place. Golden State next plays those two teams.
* at Denver 118, Dallas 105: Carmelo Anthony scored nine of his 32 points in a game-breaking 18-2 run that sent the Mavericks to 1-1 since Dirk Nowitzki’s knee and ankle injuries and 0-9 against teams with winning records since acquiring Jason Kidd. Allen Iverson had 31 points.
* at Detroit 85, Miami 69: Rookie Arron Afflalo had career highs of 15 points and seven rebounds as the Pistons clinched the Central Division title. Afflalo replaced starting guard Richard Hamilton, who missed his third straight game because of a hip injury.
