Today marks the online unveiling of "Birds of Paradise: A novel collaboration." Steve Lopez has written the first chapter of a serial novel. It will be up to our readers to write subsequent chapters.
Read the first installment at latimes.com/novel, and read the contest rules and submit your entry.
You have until noon Sunday to submit your entry of 600 words or less for Chapter 2. The winning second chapter will be online by 7 p.m. Sunday and in the paper Monday.
Entries for Chapter 2 must be submitted by noon Monday.
