Kings Whisper returns at Los Alamitos

Kings Whisper, who hasn’t been out since winning last Nov. 10, returns in the fifth race Sunday night at Los Alamitos.

A 9-year-old Wiking gelding owned by Brooke Cherry and trained by Candice Coffee, the Florida-bred was last seen winning by one length at nearly 16-1 against six other Arabians.

The victory was the 18th in 69 starts for Kings Whisper, who will be ridden by Dihigi Gladney in the $5,470 optional claimer at 4 1/2 furlongs.

Another 9-year-old gelding drawn directly inside of Kings Whisper has even more career wins. Rw Country Angel, who is also a son of Wiking, has won 19 of 89 and earned nearly $141,000.

Bred in Florida by Laurie Whaley Pearson, Rw Country Angel has picked up eight of his wins at Los Alamitos. Baltazar Contreras will ride for owner Pamela Onken and trainer Chuck Treece.

Rw Country Angel is one of three Treece is scheduled to run. The others are five-time winner Starlit Jetalinah and Magneto Cs, who has won three of 24.

The picks: 1. Skimming’s First. 2. Griffen Quigley. 3. Dinnerinthediner. 4. Sketchers. 5. Kings Whisper. 6. Bf In Your Eyes. 7. Be The Miracle. 8. Hennessey Venom. 9. Catch Champ.
