5 arrested in Southern California counterfeiting scheme
U.S. attorney's office in Los Angeles says the counterfeiters distributed as much as $6 million in fake $20 and $100 bills.
Federal authorities in Los Angeles have dismantled a major counterfeiting ring that allegedly printed and distributed up to $6 million in bogus currency, the U.S. attorney's office announced today.
Five people, including the man allegedly responsible for printing the fake $20 and $100 bills, have been arrested and face federal counterfeiting charges.
U.S. Atty. Thomas P. O' Brien called the case "one of the largest, if not the largest, counterfeit currency rings we have seen in Southern California."
