* Update: After Garland was rocked for seven runs and 10 hits in six innings of a loss to Oakland on April 28, pitching coach Mike Butcher, after watching tapes of Garland’s complete-game victory over the Angels in the 2005 playoffs, noticed the former White Sox pitcher was opening his front shoulder too early on his delivery. Garland corrected the flaw and has given up only one run and seven hits in 16 innings of his last two starts, a win over Baltimore and a no-decision against Tampa Bay. Vazquez is tied for the American League lead with 52 strikeouts and has given up only three home runs this season after giving up 29 in 2007.
