Ready for a history lesson

National Treasure:

Book of Secrets

Walt Disney, $29.99/$34.99; Blu-Ray, $34.99

If the notion of a fortune-hunting, history-obsessed action hero didn't make you giddy with anticipation back in 2004, then chances are that last year's sequel to "National Treasure" won't perk you up much. “National Treasure: Book of Secrets” offers more of the same family-friendly adventure with Nicolas Cage at its center, but it takes exactly the right tongue-in-cheek, plot-holes-be-damned approach to blockbuster moviemaking. The DVD adds a commentary track by the movie's two Jons -- director Turteltaub and co-star Voigt.

Company

Image, $24.99; Blu-Ray, $29.98

“National Treasure: Book of Secrets”John Doyle's 2006 Broadway staging of Stephen Sondheim's 1970 musical "Company" has the show's swingin' Manhattanites playing their own instruments on stage -- a choice that sometimes works and sometimes sticks the audience with skilled musicians who can't act or sing so well. But this "Company," preserved by PBS' Great Performances, is elevated to must-see status by the presence of Raul Esparza, playing a single man struggling with romantic commitment. Esparza was interviewed for the DVD's special features, as were Doyle and Sondheim.

“National Treasure: Book of Secrets”--

And...

"The Flock" (Weinstein Co., $24.95); "Hamburger Hill" (Lions Gate, $19.98); "If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" (United Artists, $19.98)
