Ford Motor Co. is recalling about 655,000 F-150 and Lincoln Mark LT large pickup trucks worldwide to replace a brake hose that can come loose. The recall affects 2005 and 2006 models with 5.4-liter, three-valve engines, the Dearborn, Mich.-based company said in a letter posted on the website of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration at www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/recalls/results.cfm. The rubber vacuum hose may swell and detach from a fitting, reducing braking power, the agency said.
* About 84,000 children's storage bins sold at Lowe's Cos. stores from March 2007 to February 2008 are being recalled because paint on the bins could contain excessive levels of lead, violating the federal lead paint standard. Item number No. 226782 (pastel green storage bin) or No. 226781 (pink storage bin) appears on the bottom of the storage bin item.
