Arthur Parks: An article and headline in Saturday's California section about the hospitalization of Arthur Parks, brother of Los Angeles City Councilman Bernard C. Parks, stated that he had suffered a stroke. Family members say that doctors later determined that his illness was the result of an infection.
The hospitalization of Parks' older brother came just days after their father, Earl Parks, died at age 87.
The former chief of the Los Angeles Police Department and two-term city councilman canceled his campaign appearances Monday because of his father's death.
On Friday evening, Parks resumed his campaign. He was scheduled to appear with former City Councilman Nate Holden, County Supervisor Gloria Molina and other supporters for get-out-the-vote activities.
