GAME OF THE DAY

Detroit welcomes Iverson; Pistons lose

November 10, 2008|Associated Press

AUBURN HILLS, MICH. — The Motor City greeted Allen Iverson with a standing ovation so loud that the public-address announcer couldn't be heard. Then, the Boston Celtics quieted the crowd and spoiled Iverson's first game at home with the Detroit Pistons since being acquired from the Denver Nuggets in a trade last week.

Tony Allen scored 12 of his 23 points in the pivotal second quarter, lifting Boston to an 88-76 win Sunday night.

Iverson said he got "chillbumps" when he was introduced and heard the roar of the crowd.

"That's all you want when you get traded," said Iverson.

Iverson, who had scored 24 points in his debut for the Pistons on Friday, finished with 10 points on four-for-11 shooting with four assists and four turnovers.
