Hot Property: The late Vivian Sheehan's Santa Monica home sells for $2,185,000

The Santa Monica home of a hero who pioneered speech therapy for people who stutter just sold for $2,185,000, according to the Multiple Listing Service.

Vivian Sheehan, who died at age 90 in February, worked on the psychological stumbling blocks facing stutterers, primarily the fear of tripping over their words, said Jane Fraser, president of the Stuttering Foundation of America in Tennessee, in Sheehan's obituary in the Los Angeles Times.

The house, built in 1926, was on the market just 34 days. It was originally listed at $2,375,000. Located in the prestigious neighborhood north of Montana Avenue, the house has three bedrooms and 1 3/4 bathrooms in 1,644 square feet. The garage was converted into an office with a bathroom and fireplace. The home has original tile in the bathrooms, hardwood floors throughout and a breakfast room off the kitchen.

Sheehan was actress Patricia Neal's therapist after Neal suffered a series of strokes in 1964. But most of Sheehan's work, along with that of her husband, Joseph, who predeceased her, was with people who stuttered. She was the director of the Sheehan Stuttering Center and spent the bulk of her research at the UCLA Speech Psychology Clinic.
