Dallas 124, at New York 114 (OT): Dirk Nowitzki scored seven of his season-high 39 points in overtime and grabbed 15 rebounds, helping the Mavericks snap a five-game losing streak. Josh Howard added season highs of 31 points and 14 rebounds. He had two baskets in the extra session for the Mavericks (3-7), who were off to their worst start in a decade. They trailed for almost all of regulation, then tied it with a furious rally and didn't allow a field goal in overtime to avoid their first six-game skid since Feb. 29-March 9, 2000. Zach Randolph had 27 points and 18 rebounds for the Knicks, who shot 0 for 9 in overtime and lost for the first time this season when scoring 100 points.

at Denver 90, Minnesota 84: Chauncey Billups scored 26 points, J.R. Smith had eight of his 14 points in a decisive fourth-quarter stretch and the Nuggets overcame poor shooting to hand the Timberwolves their eighth straight loss. Carmelo Anthony, who made only four of 17 shots, had 14 points and 12 rebounds to help Denver improve to 5-1 since the Nuggets acquired Billups in the trade that sent Allen Iverson to Detroit. Minnesota hasn't won since beating Sacramento in its opener.

Orlando 90, at Charlotte 85: Hedo Turkoglu scored 20 points to lead the Magic, which won even though All-Star center Dwight Howard scored only four points in 26 minutes before fouling out for the first time this season.

San Antonio 90, at Sacramento 88: Michael Finley scored 21 points and Tim Duncan had 20, including two key baskets in the final minute, as the Spurs won their second in a row after a 2-5 start. John Salmons had a season-high 31 points for the Kings.

at Toronto 107, Miami 96: Chris Bosh scored 27 points, and Jermaine O'Neal had 11 points and 18 rebounds to help the Raptors snap a two-game losing streak. Dwyane Wade scored 29 points for the Heat.

at Phoenix 104, Detroit 86: Shaquille O'Neal scored 10 of his 12 points in the second quarter before his night came to an early end when he was ejected for committing a flagrant foul on the Pistons' Rodney Stuckey.
